Thanks be to our Heavenly Father for giving me the opportunity to serve at Ma Ko Pan since its founding in 1997. As the School Principal, I believe firmly in the mission our Heavenly Father has entrusted me. With the school’s well-established foundation, MKP will continue its pursuit of excellence and to uphold its ideals of providing a wholistic Christian education, equipping students with knowledge and skills at a high level and cultivating their noble character based on biblical truth. Our founding school supervisor and missionary Mr. Aitkin’s belief that “every individual serves a purpose” profoundly impacted me. I believe every student is created in the image of God; therefore, every student is precious and purposeful. With God’s love we teach them and help them cultivate a servant’s heart. At the same time, they will be well equipped with knowledge and skill set, likening to our two legs that work with each other to support the body and to move it forward. I hope MKP can help students develop their talents to become a Christ-like servant leader who serve others with love and humility.
Looking ahead into the future, noticing the growing concerns in climate changes, the rapid development of AI and bio-tech research, and the impact of the recent global pandemic, Hong Kong as a city of international status must keep abreast with these changes and overcome all impending challenges. It is only with the concerted effort between the school and the students’ parents that we can equip our next generation to welcome opportunities borne out of these challenges and help them create a brilliant and promising future.
Education bears an increasingly important and difficult responsibility. We must humbly rely on our Heavenly Father who is loving and faithful and will continue to watch over us and grant us all necessary strengths to carry out his mission. I pray that MKP will be a beacon of hope to our students and will serve as their guide to the knowledge of Jesus, to a rightful, abundant, and hopeful life path, and to be an all rounded Makopanian who will gladly contribute themselves to society as salt and light of Jesus.
